This is beautiful.
“Nachts” is a home recording experiment by Janek Sprachta, an EP recorded and completed in one day. The idea: A room full of instruments, a handful of microphones, 24 hours at hand and the goal to craft a piece of music that incorporates all ideas that spring to mind. The music on this release is coming from a rather neo-classical branch of Janek’s diverse creative background, having played in various bands and projects over the years, covering a wide range of the musical spectrum. “Nachts” is a departure from his band activities in many ways, all is improvised from scratch, carefully layered and condensed into four pieces of instrumental nature.
The EP is out now, you have the choice between a beautiful handmade CD-R edition or a digital version here.

New live dates + recording update.

I will play two special shows in Hamburg and Berlin this weekend… First one will be at Hamburg’s Astra-Stube on October 8 with Niedervolt Houdini, which featured alongside Tellavision on the “Demo Dandies #1” tape compilation. It’s a small monthly festival called “Filthy Diamonds”. And filthy it will be! After the live sets there will be enough DJ action for anyone’s electronic-loving feet. On October 9 I will play a special living room show in Berlin-Kreuzberg w/ House of Wolves and Brokof, sounds already like like a lot of fun to me! The Berlin set will be different from the one in Hamburg. Let’s leave it at that… To attend the show in Berlin you have to reserve your seats right here, because they will be very limited. It’s a living room, people! Here are the links and dates again:

Oct. 8 - Hamburg - Filthy Diamonds Festival at Astra-Stube w/ Niedervolt Houdini

Oct. 9 - Berlin - Live in the Living w/ House of Wolves & Brokof

Furthermore I record on a daily basis in Hamburg right now, working on a first release of own material. Scary stuff to do, but I enjoy it a lot. The battle against the machines continues for a little while but it’s not too long until you might hear something.

See you at the shows!

Work, work, work: That’s my room in Hamburg until recently, I just moved to another flat a few days ago.

Corwood Manual live tonight!

So tonight’s the night. After some sleepless nights full of rehearsals I will support Parts & Labor tonight at Levee in Berlin. My room looks like a mess now, cables, sweets and effect boxes everywhere. I guess I’m ready. See you tonight?

This is not my room. Would be nice though.

From Sivaofficial’s Audioteque:

All The Right Moves

The origin of this song dates way back to our winter tour in February 2008. After a concert in Bremen we were about to sleep in a big room above the club, the club owner gave us the keys and turned down the lights. After he left we decided to get back on stage at 3 in the morning, to play together. So the lights were turned on again and we started to play whatever came to mind. Suddendly the guitar part emerged and we played it for half an hour straight, trying to find the right parts to complement it. After the tour we recorded the guitar on an old folk guitar (soon to fall apart) and the recording process started from there. The first part of the song was created in summer ‘08, during the album sessions in early ‘09 we completed the song, adding layers of instruments, drums and vocals to it. It describes the idea to start anew, after something went horribly wrong in the first place. Wanting something almost too much is often the reason why it does not work out. Finding a balance is hard. You have to learn to sense when to step back or take control during a process and remember to leave some space to let the ghosts walk in the room. Whatever is the agenda. The best things sometimes occur when you let go, don’t they? The original title of the song was “All The Right Moves In The Wrong Place”, which describes the good intentions being sometimes put into the wrong manners to achieve something. It also payed tribute to the various elements and influences of the song, bringing Electronica, R & B, Post-Rock and a bit of Soul together. It almost became the title of the record we were working on but that’s another story… At last minute we decided to shorten the title of the song, making it more open.
